Barcelona is our second home and is the sixth most visited city in Europe with over 100,000 hotel rooms and 14,900 Airbnb listings (other sharing sites are available) there is a lot of choice.
The Catalan Capital is also a key destination for companies sending delegates to one of the many tradeshows and conferences that happen through out Barcelona. Whilst extremely beautiful Barcelona is a very crowded city and the size of some of the hotel rooms and apartments reflects this, and this is not always apparent in the images presented. You do also find a number of interior apartments in Barcelona which are to everyone’s taste along with substandard fittings and fixtures which have the potential to leave a dampner on your hard earned vacation time.
How are you to know the difference?
As time has passed it has been proven we can’t always trust the descriptions given to use by either the property or agency selling said property as they have an agenda and wouldn’t want to distract from this with any negativity. Equally we can’t always trust the images presented to us: with camera trickery such as wide angled lenses it is quite easy to make a small room look quite grand and a touch of Photoshop can always improve the view!
Ahhh but there are the reviews we hear you say! Unfortunately not only have people found ways to manipulate, on sharing sites there is the tendency to have social niceties getting the way of writing honest reviews. Have a look and you will only see either really positive reviews or really awful reviews this is because after meeting the property owner people are less likely to want to write a negative review unless the experience was truly awful. VerifiedRooms.com came about from our own need to check properties before booking our clients into them. Unfortunately we had also fallen into the trap laid out on the internet relying on the descriptions, images and reviews presented to us by the individual or agency forgetting this was all shown with the intention of selling the property to us.
